What are your goals and plans for the future?

While I may be just a second-year student, my passion and drive to succeed is limitless. I’m currently studying Business Administration at Wilfrid Laurier University, with a minor in Economics and UX Design. I am also in the midst of a four-month volunteership as a Marketing Communications Intern for Slan Sports Management. Ultimately, my career goal is to combine my interests in sports and business while making a positive difference at a reputable, international organization.  Being involved in sports at a young age taught me the value of teamwork and the hard work required to be successful. However, after overcoming two open-heart surgeries as an infant, I knew that I would have to find other ways to make sports a part of my life. Over the past year, I have taken every step possible to start achieving my dreams. I competed at the international level for DECA Ontario, achieved first-place in a McMaster University case competition, and just recently began the role of Executive Vice President for Sports Management Laurier. Upon graduation from high school, I was awarded the Mario Durante Business Award and a Business Certificate. Furthermore, I was the Co-Chair for our school’s Relay for Life Committee, which managed to raise over $35,000 for cancer research as the largest fundraiser in school history. I also recently started a podcast, SportsBiz with Rashaad, for students in hopes of inspiring them to follow their passions. This platform also allows me to conduct interviews with professionals in the sports industry and learn everything I need to make my dreams a reality.
