Atila is a web app that makes it easy to find an apply to scholarships. The idea is very simple:
Here is a live video of Atila in Action:
Jamila makes an account and answers questions such as what school and program she’s interested in.
Atila’s ranking algorithm sorts and filters the scholarships to show her the most specific scholarships first.
For example, she would see scholarships only for females, living in Oakville, studying engineering ranked higher than scholarships for all students in Canada.
Allen is the software bot from Atila that automates your applications for you. Allen can take information from your profile and similar questions from past applications so you only ever have to answer a question once. Allen can even fill text fields, click buttons and attach files from the cloud. Allen can also work with pdfs and write a customized email for you. See allen in action or try it yourself!
There are is $25 billion in financial aid available in North America alone. In order to make all students aware of them, any user can add a scholarship they find unto the atila site or edit incorrect or incomplete information for an existing scholarship.
Atila Points is a points system that rewards users for contributing to the site. In order to get as many scholarships and content as possible on the site and to make it fair for everyone, users are encouraged to earn Atila points while using the site. Atila points can be used to find and apply to scholarships, view blog posts and forum discussions. Atila points can be earned by adding scholarships, referring a friend or adding a blog post to the site. The idea is to encourage users to contribute and give back to the Atila community as they have benefitted from others who have given back.
Atila also has a blog and forum platform so students can share advice with each other. For example here’s Zion’s forum on the differences between computer engineering, computer science and software engineering, Angel getting networking advice. For blogs, here is Michael’s post on starting a dating company while in school or Kitan talking about her internship in Nigeria, Africa.
