Update: Read this thread where we reflect on this scholarship.

In September 2020, the Parliament of India passed 3 farm bills that could potentially make it very difficult for hundreds of farmers in India to make a living. For many regions in India (Punjab, Rajasthan, and Haryana to name a few), agriculture is a big part of their economy.

We all know that Canada is a country of immigrants and the Indian community is a big part of the Canadian community. To show our support for the Indian farmers we are offering a scholarship for Sikh students and any student of Indian heritage.

Write about how we can create a more equitable society for Indian farmers and how you contribute to your local community.

You can either write about what you do for the Sikh and Indian community specifically or any other contributions you make to make your local community a better place, it doesn't have to be specific to the Sikh and Indian community.

At least two winners will be chosen for this scholarship, one Sikh student and one Indian heritage student. The total scholarship awarded will be divided evenly amongst both students.

If you are of Indian heritage but not Sikh, you may leave the religion question blank.
