How have you overcome adversity? What did you learn and how have you grown from that experience?:

Born to Succeed

What is life without adversities? What is life without Trials? I will forever be grateful for the challenges I have faced because they are what made me who I am today...

...Nevertheless, I am thankful for boarding school, I am thankful for my experience at high-school, I am thankful for a job, I am thankful for every family that has helped me, I am thankful for my family, and most especially, I am thankful to God for keeping me through it all.

What are your goals and plans for the future?:

Running With A Vision

Currently, I am pursuing my undergraduate education in chemical engineering and society at McMaster University. I am also an active participant of McMaster’s extracurricular activities such as the Women In Engineering Club and MacChangers Club.

Over the years, I have realized that doing well in my academics is great, but it is not all that matters in life. For this reasoning, I decided to become more active in extracurricular activities hence, I joined these clubs. In the WIE organization, I have been given the opportunity to enhance my public speaking skills by presenting to Grade 10 students about the STEM field. Furthermore, I am currently working in a MacChangers group to develop an innovative solution on how users can interact sustainably with the environment. From these two clubs, I am gaining valuable skills which will help me in the future.

This being said, two major goals of mine include having my own company and starting a foundation. I would like my company to be one that develops carbon capturing technology. Many chemical engineering processes contribute to environmental damage, but with the help of my society courses, I am able to think of ways to be sustainably proactive in the engineering field. This company will enable me to be part of a solution to these environmental issues and possibly make a difference.

The reason why I am choosing to start a charitable organization is because I want to give back to my community. After years of living in Nigeria, I have encountered and interacted with a lot of people who were lacking basic necessities. Having been given the privilege of moving to Canada, I believe I have a responsibility to go back and give to those who are in need. The aim of my charity is to provide clean water for families in Africa. And with the program I am in right now, I am learning how to identify and address issues related to water. I believe this knowledge will help me achieve my goal.

If all else fails, this is one goal I would strive to achieve because I find joy from seeing other people happy.

I know I am on the right path to success and I am confident the future holds a lot for me.
