Atila just launched a $9/month premium subscription. Now that Atila has a paid subscription option, we believe that you should get paid for contributing to Atila as well.

Let’s look at an example of how it works:

  1. Assume 117 premium users on Atila, each paying $9/month.
  2. After operating costs $702 will be payable to all creators
  3. Assumer you add a scholarship, a blog post, and an essay, another user adds a scholarship etc.
  4. The total page views per user divided by total views determines monthly payout
  5. For example, you get 45% of all page views so you get 45% of total payout Revenue ($316)

You can play with the numbers in this spreadsheet.

You can play around with the numbers in this spreadsheet to calculate your payout.

Total Payout revenue  = (Total Revenue - Operating Costs) * (Creator Revenue Share %)

Operating Costs: Are the fixed costs associated with running Atila. Such as server costs, hosting fees, domain name, SAAS tools etc. It’s currently about $50 month.

Creator Revenue Share % is currently 70% while we are still trying to grow the website and get more users and content. To be completely transparent, this number will likely change in the future. We are looking at Spotify, Youtube, Medium etc. revenue share models to decide what a fair revenue share model will be.

One important difference to keep in mind is that those websites are content sites, so they make most of their money from content and content creators. Atila is a software as a service tool, so content is just a small part of what we offer users. Many users use Atila for the software tools we have for finding and applying for scholarships.

When Will This Begin?

We plan to start making payouts in January 2020. But any content you add to the site from November 14 onwards will be eligible for payouts. This means the January 2020 payouts will include views from November and December 2019.

If you have any more questions or feedback send us an email at info[at]atila.ca. We want to hear from you on how we can make this better.

Note: Atila revenue sharing model is still a work in progress and we are sharing our thought process here for transparency. Feel free to offer feedback on this information, it can change at any time without notice.
